| The technology that forms the basis of DigiLog's Advanced Validation Solutions comes from the family of Voice Analysis technologies supplied to DigiLog under its exclusive deal with Nemesysco Ltd. This technology is substantially more advanced than basic Voice Stress Analysis, both in terms of concept and capabilities. Nemesysco's unique patented and technology incorporates wide range spectrum analysis. It measures micro-changes in the human speech wave-form, unlike standard Voice Stress Analysis technologies, which, in the main, measure micro tremors. It automatically analyses these micro-changes and interprets them as easy to understand system messages that identify a broad range of human emotional signatures. Not only is it highly effective in face-to-face situations and with recorded
material, it is the only technology of its type that can be used over
the telephone. Pure Voice Stress Analysis technologies attempt to detect deception through the identification of stress levels alone. However, stress levels do not necessarily indicate an intention to deceive. For instance, a subject can be stressed by the environment they find themselves in - or perhaps the wider set of general circumstances they are experiencing, but these stresses are unlikely to help us in indicating deception when we are interested in a specific response about a specific activity. The VRA technology used in DigiLog's Advanced Validation Solution uses a number of criteria including emotional stress levels, cognitive conflict, etc. in determining whether there is indeed any intention to deceive. Voice Stress Analysis (VSA) is not a new technology. It has been commercially available in a number of different forms since the early 1970's. There has been a significant amount of private, academic and public sector research undertaken on the accuracy, effectiveness and reliability of a number of VSA technologies as offered by various manufacturers around the world. However, much of the available research looks at VSA technologies in general and in isolation of any other techniques that may be critical in achieving results. Further, they often use inappropriate material for study, material likely to diminish the ability to detect emotional profiles attributed to deceptive speech. This is because many of the studies deploy the technology in mock scenarios, where no matter how hard researchers try, they cannot conjure up the deep, cognitive and emotional conflicts likely to be of interest in a risk analysis of a conversation; the mock situation simply contains no consequences for the ‘liar' to have to face should the truth be discovered hence there actually is no deep, emotion inducing, lie to place under the microscope. DigiLog's Advanced Validation Solutions (AVS) are built around the concept of a dual approach to validation, combining the powerful Behavioural Analysis techniques we call Narrative Integrity Analysis with the VRA technology. This combination enables us to open up an incredible window into truth and risk of deception. None of the available academic research into VSA technologies examines DigiLog AVS's dual approach i.e. using VRA in tandem with our more powerful Advanced Questioning techniques, Conversation Management and Behavioural Analysis skills and to do so is extremely difficult. AVS is not a perfect science. Every scenario we analyse contains a multitude of factors that make it different from any other. Every conversation is different. People that are lying lie about different things and have differing realities and perceptions of the consequences of discovery. Every person is different, and most importantly, so are the skills of every operator who uses our system. We have provided links to several of the main research papers on a variety of VSA products. Remember, none of them place any of the technologies in the context of DigiLog's solutions. The best research material presently available regarding our solutions comes from a tremendously important source: the results achieved by, and the testimonials made by, our customers, many of whom are highly respected, blue chip corporations. These results come from real-time, real world operational deployments. Many insurers, some using our solution since 2002, have seen huge improvements in their fraud identification rates. One has saved more than £11.5 million from the processing of only motor 19,000 claims. Provident Insurance in the UK is currently defeating an 29% of all their unfiltered claims - saving more than 25% of their claims reserves in the process.
